Description: In this class, students will explore the interconnectedness of living things through hands-on application. We will delve into the impacts of climate change and how people all over the world are responding to these changes through creating problem solving and lifestyle changes. Description: Students will be taught  and will be able to identify figurative language and poetic devices in a piece of writing. They will also be taught and will learn the  basic components of grammar, which is essential to promoting excellent writing, and they will be taught reading comprehension strategies. Students will focus on a variety of texts (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, short stories) to work on various practices, such as setting a purpose for reading, reading for details, making observations, or having group discussions. Students will read to build knowledge, gain perspective, practice writing and expand their vocabulary.

Description: Students will learn the knowledge, the skills and receive the academic preparation needed to join the dual enrollment program (program allowing homeschoolers and students attending public, private or charter schools to simultaneously enroll in college courses). Students will receive academic support to prepare for the Accuplacer test (reading, writing and some support for arithmetic, algebra and quantitative reasoning). Students will do career exploration with self-assessment tools (values, interests, personality, aptitude); they will learn time management skills and they will work on learning strategies, test taking strategies and transition skills. Based on students’ interest, students will be given the opportunity to meet with college advisors and/or to visit college campuses.

Description: Math intervention with the goal of building a foundation to meet college admission and placement tests. Students will practice making salves, syrups, poultices, and teas with herbs they grow.

Description: Students have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of swimming and develop to compete in swim competitions and on a water polo team.

Fee: Fee waived for all students and families engaged in the committee.

Info: Families will be supported by meeting weekly to plan and organize student-led and inspired activities and field days.
